Church History Module

OBJECTIVE

Each week students should be able to reflect on the lives of those who truly were images of Christ throughout their time in Modern Egypt. As we focus on different leaders in the Church, such as Pope Kyrillos VI, students would be able to see how to overcome adversity with God alone, while still being examples of resilience, love, humility, and kindness. Being able to gain insight and knowledge related to our church history will reaffirm the student's faith, as they now would understand the roots of their beliefs.

MILESTONES

Scripture:

Many of those who lived a monastic lifestyle contemplated on Scriptures. Students should be able to understand and see the value of contemplation in regards to building their own character. Just as Pope Shenouda III was capable of focusing on specific verses of the Song of Solomon in Have You Seen the One I Love, students should learn how to contemplate on the memory verse each week.

Spiritual:

Regardless of the barriers modern examples of Christianity faced to focus on their spiritual life, they exhibited strength and resilience. Learning about those from our current day and age will provide students with insight on how to practice spirituality and have God in the center of their life, even when facing adversity.

Social:

In our church, many acted as examples of how to be images of Christ in a progressive community. Every week students should reflect on how they could interact with others, while still exemplifying Christian beliefs and morals.

Rituals:

Each person in the Church has its own responsibilities; this module should help them understand their roles and the roles of others.
