Capstone

OBJECTIVE

The objective for this grade is to learn about the lives of the saints and apply their teachings and lifestyle to our own with our families. We are all one family with Christ and we support and encourage one another. Also we are to understand the importance of ancestors, the saints. Their teachings are very important, without them we would not be where we are today. We must learn from them and incorporate their teaching for our continual growth.

INSTRUCTIONS/IDEAS

• In conjunction with 4th grade mission trips - Print a Map of CA with city names. Have the students find cities named after Orthodox saints; St. Barbara, St. Ann, St. Onofre, San Ysidro (St. Isidore), San Juan (St. John), etc.
• Incorporate a matching game where the kids must match 5-7 characteristics to the correct saint they learned about in this module. (See example and table below)
  • Ask why they think those characteristics match that specific saint.
  • Which characteristic stood out to them the most ?
  • Which saint do they connect more with to seek as an intercessor?
