Faith Module

OBJECTIVE

The objective of this module is to demonstrate that there is only one Church, it is composed of saints in Heaven, known collectively as the church victorious and saints on earth, known collectively as the church militant.

MILESTONES

Scripture:

"God is wondrous in His saints." Ps. 67:36

Spiritual:

The children are to understand after this module that venerating the saints is indirectly venerating the Lord, since no man/woman can attain the glory that the saints attained without being united with the Lord and reflecting His glory.

Social:

Children should understand about their lives socially that sanctity is very near to all of us and not just for the saints. The saints did not have a super-power that was only accessible to them.

Rituals:

The church rituals in regard to veneration of the saints or icons are not there for us to admire as one admires a work of art, but they are there as an example to spur us to action in our spiritual lives. Additionally, the children will learn about the Orthodox concept of St. Mary.
