Old Testament Module

OBJECTIVE

  • The objective of this Module is to complete the history of the Old Testament from Elementary from after the events of Solomon to the Babylonian Captivity and the reconstruction of the Temple

MILESTONES

  • Scripture: By the end of this module, the children should have four Bible verses memorized.
    • And it came to pass, at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near and said, "Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that You are God in Israel and I am Your servant, and that I have done all these things at Your word (1 Kg 18:36).
    • "I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; surely I will heal you" (2 Kings 20:5)
    • "Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, who sent His Angel and delivered His servants who trusted in Him" (Da. 3:28)
    • Who is among you of all His people? May his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem which is in Judah, and build the house of the Lord God of Israel (He is God), which is in Jerusalem (Er. 1:3)
  • Spiritual: Learn to stand against sin, to be faithful to the worship of God, hold on to Orthodox tradition, and care deeply for the House of God as well as study types of Christ throughout
  • Social: Youth will learn to hold on to Christian and Orthodox values to be a light in the world, their communities, their social groups, and their families
  • Rituals: Youth should see the use of Daniel in the liturgical services, including Da. 3 in the Third Hoos of Tasbeha as well as the reading of the book and its Deuterocanonical chapter "Susanna" on Bright Saturday (i.e. Apocalypse Saturday)
