Liturgy Module

OBJECTIVE

The objective of the liturgy module is to help the 8th graders understand the importance of living a sacramental life through the lens of individual sacraments. To show them that sacraments are not simply activities or rituals that we participate in as Coptic Orthodox Chistians, but rather they point us to a new way of looking at life and a transformed way of living.

MILESTONES

Scripture

Students should learn that the Sacraments of the church are Biblically based and steeped in the tradition of the Church.

Spiritual

Sacramental Life and Spiritual Life are inseparable. The goal of these lessons is to show students that a full life with God involves participation in the Sacraments

Social

As a church, the Sacraments are supposed to be experienced together. They are not individual acts, but acts in which each individual unites with the Church and with God.

Rituals

Students should learn that the Sacraments are not empty or arbitrary rituals, but that since we are physical beings, as well as spiritual, these physical ritual acts are essential to the spiritual life.
