Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal

OBJECTIVE

The theme of this module is God is Love. God is our Father and loves us so much. He shows us His love by creating the world and all nature for us, sending His Son to die on the cross for our sins, and His Resurrection to give us joy in salvation. God is God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, Three in One. In this lesson, we will delve in the attributes of God, as Holy Mighty and Holy Immortal.

INTRODUCTION & HOOK - 10 Minutes

Please review the previous week's lesson. (5 minutes)

Sing the hymn of the trisagion together, whether in English or in Coptic. Ask the children what they think it means when we call God, "Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal."

HOLY SCRIPTURE - 5 Minutes

Memorization: Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, who was born of the Virgin, have mercy on us. (Trisagion Hymn)

CONTENT (KEY POINTS) - 10 Minutes

In the hymn "Agios" there are many keywords that are repeated throughout. Usually when the Bible or the Church repeats something, it's their special way of saying we should really pay attention to these words. So let's take a closer look at these repeated words. When we repeat things three times, it shows our faith in the Holy Trinity, Three Persons of God in One.

Before you go into each definition, ask the children what they think each term means to them. Give them lots of praise and positive feedback with each response.

Holy God: We believe that God is different from us, He is our Creator. He is outside of time, space, and any human measurement. He is pure, spotless, awesome, and majestic. When Moses took off his sandals in front of the Burning Bush, he was showing us how to show respect for God's presence.

Holy Mighty: There is nothing stronger than our God. We cannot do anything by ourselves, we need God to help us. With God nothing is impossible. He even opened the Red Sea for the Israelites when they thought all hope was lost.

Holy Immortal: God cannot die, He is forever. Only God who is the source of all life, has no beginning and no end. As the Creator of everything, He is eternal, forever, and immortal. When we sing and pray these words, we remember that when we believe in Him, He will give us eternal life to be with Him forever in Heaven.

DISCUSSION (Challenge) - 10 Minutes

Ask the students to share any stories, personal, Bible or saint stories, that show us how God can do things that would be impossible for us. Encourage them to share by beginning with a story from your personal life or a favorite saint story where God performed a miracle or showed His Might in an amazing way.

LIFE APPLICATION - 5 Minutes
